Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that beginning April 3, all returning Malaysians or foreign visitors who enter the country will be subjected to the compulsory 14-day quarantine at all entry points.

He said the government will cover RM150 per day for the cost of hotel accommodation and food.

In a previous press conference on Tuesday, April 7, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government will cover RM 150 per day which will be used to pay the cost of hotel and accommodation and food. In total, the government will be paying a sum of RM 2,100 for each rooms at the hotel listed. However, the cost of other services such as laundry will be borne by the individuals.

He said the request to include luxury hotels as quarantine centres came from foreign embassies, as their diplomats want better accommodation.

However, he stressed the SOP is the same as every other quarantine centres. They will have to follow the same rules.

“They cannot leave their rooms, they cannot receive guests such as friends and relatives, none of that is allowed.”
