Starting a business is often the first step towards financial independence. However, for many aspiring entrepreneurs, even small startup costs can become a barrier to turning an idea into reality. To encourage more Malaysians to venture into entrepreneurship, Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) has introduced and expanded several initiatives that allow eligible individuals to register their businesses completely free of charge.

Effective 1 June 2026, the enhanced schemes provide greater support for aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them take their first step into business with lower costs and fewer barriers.
Whether you are a B40 entrepreneur, full-time student, person with disabilities (OKU), or senior citizen, these initiatives could help you launch your business journey while reducing your initial costs.
SSM Offers Free Business Registration for B40 Entrepreneurs and Students
Under the Skim Pendaftaran Perniagaan Percuma (SPPP), eligible B40 entrepreneurs and full-time students can register their businesses with SSM at no cost.
Better still, the scheme has been extended from one year to two years, providing greater support for new entrepreneurs as they build their businesses.

Eligible applicants can enjoy:
- RM120 exemption for trade name registration
- RM60 exemption for personal name registration
- RM10 exemption for business information printouts
The scheme is open to:
B40 Entrepreneurs
- Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above
- Holders of MyKad or MyPR
- Listed in the relevant B40 assistance database
- No active business entity currently registered with SSM
Full-Time Students
- Studying full-time at IPTA, IPTS, polytechnics, colleges, skills institutes, or training centres in Malaysia
- Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above
- Holders of MyKad or MyPR
- No active business entity currently registered with SSM
SSM Continues Supporting OKU Entrepreneurs
SSM is also continuing its 1 OKU 1 Business Scheme (S101P), which provides free business registration and annual renewal benefits for persons with disabilities (OKU).
The initiative aims to reduce compliance costs and encourage greater participation in entrepreneurship among the OKU community.
Eligible participants enjoy:
- RM60 exemption for trade name registration
- RM30 exemption for personal name registration
More importantly, annual renewals remain free, allowing OKU entrepreneurs to focus on growing their businesses without worrying about recurring registration expenses.
New Free Business Registration Scheme for Senior Citizens

Recognising the growing importance of active ageing and lifelong economic participation, SSM has also introduced the Senior Citizen Free Business Registration Scheme (SPPWE).
The initiative provides eligible senior citizens with free business registration during their first year of operation.
This creates opportunities for retirees and older Malaysians to transform their skills, hobbies, knowledge, and experience into income-generating ventures.
As Malaysia moves towards becoming an ageing nation, initiatives such as SPPWE can help senior citizens remain economically active while contributing to local communities and the broader economy.
SSM Is Making Entrepreneurship More Accessible
Many successful businesses begin as small side projects, home-based ventures, online stores, freelance services, or passion-driven ideas.
With SSM now covering registration costs for several categories of Malaysians, there has rarely been a better time to take that first step.
For aspiring entrepreneurs who have been waiting for the right opportunity, these initiatives remove one of the most common barriers to starting a business.
Eligible individuals can submit their applications online through the official EzBiz portal at ezbiz.ssm.com.my
