Dr Jest Wong, the founder of Westwood Clinic is a successful entrepreneur with over 17 years of experience in aesthetics. He had it all – a thriving business, a successful career, a cooperative team, and a person he always leans on.
“Everything went well and I was blessed to have a strong team to back me up and support me on my long entrepreneurial journey. Unfortunately, a minor hiccup happened in 2019 that threatened the whole company,” Dr Jest Wong explained.
“When a part of my team took a different route, the productivity of the organisation was interrupted. The energy from my team is no longer powerful enough to support my vision. I was at the most vulnerable stage.”
The business had reached rock bottom. He couldn’t put ultimate focus on the company and due to the hardships, he lost focus. “How can I run the company while I have no team? So, I had to close it down for good,” he shared.
Suffering in silence
At the time, his career and relationship hit rock bottom, and coupled with MCO just started, he felt the only way out was to commit suicide. For Dr Jest Wong, it’s probably the only option as he has reached the end of the road.
“On that particular day, I made up my mind to end my life. I bought a lot of sleeping pills and beers too. On my first attempt, I drank 4-5 bottles of beer. I thought it was the end, instead, I fell asleep,” he tells.
“The next day, I drank more beers and took sleeping pills too. I was determined to commit suicide. Again, it wasn’t going as I wished. I choked off from consuming too much beer and I puked.”
After the attempts, it was a relief to discover that he survived. Dr Jest Wong said maybe it was a sign that God is giving him the grace to reconcile and start over. Like many people who survived, he realised the traumatic experience gave his life a renewed sense of purpose.
‘I was given a second chance’ – Dr Jest Wong, founder of Westwood Clinic
Dr Jest Wong quoted the recovery journey as a learning way to regain control of his life that involves self-transformation. “Emotionally and physically healed, I discovered a new world of possibility. But this time, I want to live my life to the fullest and accomplish things I have always wanted to do.”
Thus, with a new spirit to start anew, Westwood Clinic was founded in January 2022. With his qualifications, experience and determination, he gathered a whole new team and launched an aesthetic clinic in PJ.
Westwood Clinics brings a modern and luxurious ambience with top-notch facilities, providing safe and appropriately tailored clinic solutions in response to their clients according to their specific needs.
As the pioneer in the industry, Westwood clinic offers an array of treatments covering the body, face, post-partum and hypnotherapy. According to Dr Jest Wong, they also give consultations on nutrition to help their patients improve their lifestyles. “We believe beauty comes from within,” he clarifies.
One of the significant creations from Westwood Clinic is, they introduced the term Corrective Aesthetic to the market.
“There are about 83% illegal aesthetic clinics in Malaysia. People often seek treatment from illegal clinics for an affordable price without realising the hidden danger of seeking treatment from illegal aesthetic clinics. In most cases, the cosmetic treatment went wrong. At Westwood Clinic, the corrective aesthetic is meant to treat the damage that unregulated aesthetics had done, such as darkening of pigmentation, skin becoming sensitive or damage due to bad products, and a successful slimming blueprint, including hypnotherapy.”
Actively looking for ways to expand the brand
In just a short span of 5 months, Westwood Clinic has bagged several awards and recognitions. For instance, they were recognised by The Malaysia Book of Records for the most PICO laser treatment done. As for personal achievements, Dr Jest Wong has bagged numerous accolades which include a prestige award that he had just won in Hong Kong for pioneering the corrective aesthetic model and he is hungry for more.
Today, Westwood Clinic has six clinics in the Klang Valley. Dr Jest Wong said there were plans to open four more aesthetic clinics nationwide and a dental clinic. According to him, they will soon open a medical centre in Kuching, Sarawak.
“We aim to expand the brand, and my biggest wish is to be a regulator in this industry. I want to bring drastic changes in the industry as in the legalisation of the aesthetic industry. I want to go all out and do my best for a better Malaysia!” he ends.
