Have you ever heard of Reevo Bike? Interestingly, Reevo dubbed the world’s first hubbles e-bike was invented by a Malaysian tech company. Reevo’s e-bike is designed for the urban biker with a futuristic and minimalist design.
Meet the creator of the Reevo Bike – an engineer and also an avid cyclist
Alec Lim is the co-founder of Beno Technologies. Beno is short for “Be Innovative”. The tech company was founded in 2016 and is based in Bayan Lepas, Penang. He studied manufacturing engineering and worked at Motorola and Keysight Technologies. He is the creator of Reevo Bike where he came out with the hubbless wheel prototype design – a first in the world.
He turned down a dream job offer in 2016 to start Beno Technologies. According to Alec, he co-founded the company to pioneer e-bike innovation and create the perfect e-bike for the modern urban cyclist.
They raised RM28.4 million through Indiegogo – an international crowdfunding platform
Without any funding or grant, Beno Technologies managed to raise a total of RM28.4 million through an international crowdfunding platform called Indiegogo. They launched the crowdfunding campaign back in November 2020 and they managed to achieve the campaign goal of 200% in just 15 minutes! With the money that they raised through the crowdfunding campaign, they finalised the design at their R&D office in Seattle.

The bikes are built and manufactured in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Thus, creates jobs for the locals and a proof that Malaysia has all the resources to build world-class products. The team consists of over 20 employees with its HQ in Malaysia.
Beno Technologies have partners to sell and distribute e-bike around the world. Currently, Reevo Bike is available in 70 countries worldwide.
Clean, sleek, and functional design
Reevo is designed for the urban biker – thus explaining the unique-looking e-bike that is supposed to be “maintenance-free” while offering a touch of class. The futuristic-looking wheels are connected with an aluminium alloy frame. You can attach a Beno bag within the wheels for extra storage to keep all your belongings. Besides, there are integrated brake and signal lights to keep your safety while commuting at night. The lights will automatically turn on in low light settings – thanks to an ambient light sensor.
Reevo Bike has a minimalist look with an all-black design. Beno calls it a “stealth black” finish. Furthermore, Reevo Bike is equipped with an impenetrable Triple Barrier Anti-Theft System – made up of a fingerprint scanner. Accompanied with an integrated automatic lock and a GPS chip on the bike.
The bike provides a top speed of around 40km/h. The battery has a maximum range of 60km and a full charge will take around three hours. The Reevo Bike is priced at around RM11,800 for the standard edition. While the Premium pack’s starting price is around RM13,900.
