Setel is an e-wallet that allows you to pay for your petrol transactions at participating Petronas stations. First introduced in July 2018, the e-wallet was developed to let customers gain points when refuelling. So what makes Setel a unique e-wallet?
Setel e-wallet doesn’t function just as a method of payment, it’s more than that

With Setel, it allows you to select your petrol, the amount of fuel you need and pay for it. All can be done from inside your car – without the need to walk over to the counter, queue and make payment using cash.
How does it function?

With Setel e-wallet, the whole transaction can be done in just three steps in the comfort and safety of your air-conditioned car. Firstly, you need to open the app and key in the pump number where your car is. Choose either to pump a full tank or a specific amount. Once you have entered the amount, key in your six-digit security PIN to activate the pump. All you need to do is fill up your tank and you’re done!
You can top up your Setel e-wallet anytime

You can top up with as little as RM1 using your credit or debit card or via online banking. There’s an option where you can enable an auto top-up functions as well.
One of the big plus point of using Setel is that the payments are not subject to the pre-authorisation charge imposed on credit or debit card use. Setel e-wallet can avoid you having a few hundred Ringgit held from your account balance for 48 hours.
Collect points and get rewards!

With this e-wallet, you can collect Mesra points and keep track of the history of your points through the app. Simply link your Mesra card to the app and it automatically collects rewards points for you when you pump. So you don’t even need to bring your physical Mesra card anymore.
It’s time to ‘Settle’ your payment with Setel e-wallet

Available on both Android and iOS, you can download the app and it’s ready to use. Setel can be used at all 273 Petronas stations in the Klang Valley but not yet supported at stations outside Klang Valley. However, they have issued the plans to enable all Petronas stations in Malaysia to support the use of Setel by the end of this year.
