Petron Malaysia has been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for having the most number of service stations with 4-star and 5-star toilet cleanliness ratings by local councils in the country. This is a milestone spanning years in the making and a reflection of Petron’s sustained efforts to raise cleanliness standards and enhance the experience of customers across its retail network.

The recognition, conferred by Malaysia Book of Records Sdn. Bhd. with the support of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), marks a monumental achievement in Petron’s relentless pursuit of keeping its service stations and its facilities in top condition for customers and travellers.

Tracing its efforts back to 2018, Petron launched the “Tandas Kita Bersih” campaign to raise hygiene standards and instil greater awareness on the importance of maintaining clean facilities for the public. Since then, Petron has continued to invest in improving its toilet facilities and strengthening cleanliness and maintenance practices across its steadily growing network. Petron dealers and their respective teams played an important role in upholding these standards and in delivering a pleasant and comfortable customer experience.

Over the years, this commitment to keeping comfort rooms clean, safe and well-maintained has become more deeply ingrained in Petron’s retail network. In 2023, Petron Stadium Hang Jebat in Melaka won the ASEAN Public Toilet Initiative, affirming Petron’s commitment to meeting international standards of cleanliness, safety and accessibility.

As the nationwide campaign to promote restroom cleanliness continued to gather momentum, a total of 560 Petron service stations, representing 86% of the network at the time of the assessment in June 2025, achieved a 4-star or 5-star cleanliness rating, securing the Malaysia Book of Records recognition.

The assessment evaluated key criteria including hygiene, functionality, maintenance and overall customer comfort, providing a consistent benchmark for toilet facilities across Petron’s service stations. Since the assessment period, Petron has continued to improve its performance, with the percentage of stations achieving 4-star and 5-star ratings increasing to 91% based on current performance levels.

Petron Malaysia General Manager, Mohd Nizam Mansor said, “This recognition is the result of years of consistent effort and close partnership with our service station dealers and their teams. We are proud to see that what started as a restroom cleanliness campaign in 2018 has grown into a nationwide commitment that has now set a new benchmark for the industry. This is an important milestone for us, reinforcing our drive to keep raising our standards in serving our customers in line with our Pasti OK promise.”

Petron Malaysia believes that clean and well-maintained toilets are a basic customer expectation and an important part of the overall customer experience. This is in line with Petron’s “Pasti OK” promise, which reflects the company’s commitment to deliver an enriching experience at every stop through quality products, services and facilities.

“Since 2023, the MADANI Government, through KPKT, has introduced the BMW (Clean, Attractive and Fragrant) Toilet initiative to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining clean public toilets. I am delighted to see more private sector players responding to this call and working together to raise the standards of toilet cleanliness. In this regard, Petron is an excellent example of how strategic collaboration between the Government and the private sector can bring about positive changes to the facilities that people use every day” said YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government.

While this recognition celebrates Petron Malaysia’s progress, the commitment to make every stop at Petron a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable experience continues. Petron will continue to work closely with its station dealers and their staff to enhance facilities, elevate the overall customer experience and fuel everyone’s journey with opportunities for meaningful experiences.
