In a positive development for Malaysia’s business community, particularly among Indian entrepreneurs, more than RM220 million has been allocated under the Modal Usahawan dan Rangsangan Ekonomi India (MUDRA) initiative for 2026.

Announced by YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, the initiative highlights ongoing efforts by KUSKOP Malaysia, to strengthen the ecosystem of micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and cooperatives within the Indian community.
MUDRA: Stronger Allocation Signals Growing Demand
The latest allocation marks an increase of RM60 million compared to 2025, when approximately RM160 million was disbursed. The expansion comes on the back of encouraging response towards KUSKOP financing schemes, indicating that more entrepreneurs are actively seeking structured support.
This upward revision highlights a broader trend. Access to KUSKOP Malaysia funding is becoming increasingly relevant as businesses navigate a more complex operating environment.
MUDRA Funds Distributed Across Key Agencies
The MUDRA initiative will be implemented through several agencies under KUSKOP Malaysia, ensuring targeted delivery across different business segments.
- TEKUN Nasional will channel RM120 million under the SPUMI programme
- SME Bank will allocate RM50 million through the Vanigham financing scheme
- Bank Rakyat will provide RM15 million via BRIEF-i
- Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) will manage RM27 million, focusing on women entrepreneurs
- Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia (SKM) will contribute RM11 million for cooperative development

This structured approach reflects how KUSKOP SME support in Malaysia is designed to address the needs of businesses at different stages of growth.
Early Results Show Strong Momentum
As at 31 March 2026, the initiative has recorded RM33.48 million in approved funding, benefiting 1,805 entrepreneurs nationwide.
These early results indicate that KUSKOP initiatives in 2026 are already gaining traction, particularly among small business owners seeking accessible and relevant financing options.
A Long-Term Strategy for Business Sustainability
YB Steven Sim emphasised that MUDRA is not merely a short-term financial assistance programme, but a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
In the face of global uncertainties and rising operational costs, KUSKOP Malaysia continues to position its programmes as long-term enablers that support business resilience and growth.
Strengthening an Inclusive Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

The expansion of MUDRA reflects a broader policy direction to build a more inclusive and resilient business environment. Through continuous improvement of its programmes, KUSKOP Malaysia is strengthening support structures for entrepreneurs across the country.
For Indian entrepreneurs, this latest allocation is a timely reminder that structured support is available and growing. For those considering expansion, stabilisation, or even a new start, initiatives like this may offer a meaningful pathway forward.
