It’s true when they say there is no limit when it comes to science and innovation. Science, a Japanese technology company specialising in bathroom and kitchen innovation, recently unveiled plans to create a ‘human washing machine’. Crazy as it may sound, this machine that we are talking about is similar to a washing machine. But instead of washing clothes, this machine will produce a complex bath experience for humans.
Named ‘Project Usoyaro’, Science has stated that the goal of this project is not solely to clean the user’s body thoroughly, but also to provide a healing space where you can relax and unwind to the sound of soothing music and the view of images displayed on a water-resistant display inside the machine.
Science explained the sensors inside the washing machine will measure the state of sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, and the built-in AI will use the collected data to create the most comfortable atmosphere possible.
The ultrasonic bath will blast users with high-speed water containing extremely fine air bubbles which remove dirt from the pores.
Science’s chairman, Yasuaki Aoyama said an egg-shaped Ultrasonic Bath from Sanyo Electric that was on display at the Osaka Pavilion of the 1970 Osaka Expo served as the inspiration for Project Usoyaro.
Yasuaki Aoyama reportedly visited the show when he was 10 years old and was fascinated by the creation. He explained that as soon as the user sat down, the Sanyo bath instantly filled with hot water, and 300 massage balls began massaging their body as supersonic waves cleared away dirt. After that, the occupant was dried, and the entire cycle only took 15 minutes.
However, because taking a bath at home was still uncommon at the time, it did not become a popular commercial product. He decided to improve on the project and if things go as planned, Science will showcase the ‘human washing machine’ at the 2025 Osaka Expo.
