Working mothers in Selangor can now check their eligibility and apply for RM1,000 in financial assistance under the newly launched MamaKerja 2.0 initiative.
Applications for MamaKerja 2.0 opened on 17 August 2026 through the NINE mobile application. The programme aims to help working mothers manage childcare expenses while remaining active in the workforce.
Compared with the previous programme, MamaKerja 2.0 offers more flexible requirements, allowing more Selangor mothers, including those from the M40 group, to apply.
MamaKerja 2.0 Targets 10,000 Working Mothers
The Selangor government has allocated RM10.6 million for the programme, comprising RM5.6 million under the Selangor Budget 2026 and another RM5 million through the Selangor Resilience Package 2026.
MamaKerja 2.0 is expected to benefit approximately 10,000 working mothers across Selangor.
Selangor women empowerment and welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari said the initiative was introduced to reduce childcare costs and help women continue working while raising their families.
The programme will be fully implemented by Wanita Berdaya Selangor, a state organisation responsible for empowering women through the Selangor Women Policy.
Who Can Apply For MamaKerja 2.0?
Applicants must meet the following main requirements:
- Be a woman who is currently employed.
- Be a Selangor voter.
- Have a valid salary slip or income statement.
- Have a monthly household income of RM8,000 or below.
- Have at least one child aged six or below.
- Have an account with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia or contribute to the Employees Provident Fund.
- Not be a recipient of MamaKerja 1.0, Asuh Pintar, Tunas or BINGKAS assistance.
Applicants must also be Selangor-born or have lived in the state for more than 10 years.
Priority will be given to mothers whose children attend registered kindergartens or childcare centres, as well as those who use caretakers who have completed the Caretaking Basic Course or the Iltizam Penjagaan dan Pendidikan Awal Kanak-Kanak programme.
Requirements Have Been Relaxed
One of the biggest changes under MamaKerja 2.0 is its more inclusive eligibility criteria.
MamaKerja 1.0, launched at the end of 2023, required applicants to have at least three children aged 12 or below. That programme benefited approximately 4,500 women.
Under MamaKerja 2.0, a mother only needs to have at least one child aged six or below to qualify.
The household income limit has also been set at RM8,000 per month, allowing more middle-income families to seek assistance.
“The demand for the aid has always been high, but its conditions probably drove away some who deserved it,” Anfaal said.
She expressed hope that the relaxed conditions would encourage more eligible working mothers to submit their applications.
Successful recipients will receive a total of RM1,000 through their e-wallets.
The payment will be distributed in two phases:
- First payment: RM500
- Second payment: RM500
Both payments are expected to be completed within 90 days from the application’s approval date.
How To Apply For MamaKerja 2.0
Working mothers can first check their eligibility through the official MamaKerja portal.
Applications must then be submitted through the NINE mobile application, which is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Applicants should prepare their personal details, employment information, income documents and information about their children before submitting the application.
