Malaysians can now “speak” with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim almost anytime through PMX AI, his newly launched artificial intelligence-powered digital twin.

Available through WhatsApp, PMX AI allows users to ask questions and share their views, concerns and aspirations with a digital avatar designed to look, sound and respond like Anwar.
The initiative is presented as a new way to make Malaysia’s leadership more accessible and strengthen communication between the government and the public.
What Is PMX AI?

PMX AI was developed by Malaysian technology company Zetrix AI using its Avatar.inc platform. It is also an initiative led by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
The name reflects Anwar’s position as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister, with “PMX” commonly used as a reference to his leadership.
Unlike a standard chatbot, the platform is designed to function as a digital extension of Anwar. Malaysians can ask questions about government policies, governance and national issues through WhatsApp.
“It is not merely an avatar. It is a digital extension of myself, ready to listen, assist and serve the people,” the avatar said in its launch video.
According to Anwar, no leader can be everywhere at once. AI could therefore open a new dimension in national communication by helping leaders hear more voices and better understand the public’s aspirations.
PMX AI Was Trained Using Anwar’s Speeches
To ensure its responses reflect Anwar’s values and leadership approach, PMX AI was trained using his writings, speeches and the government’s policy records.
The system will continue to be updated with official statements, new information and the latest government policies.
Zetrix AI group managing director TS Wong said the avatar is powered by a personal knowledge model, or PKM. This allows the AI agent to learn from a person’s knowledge, preferences and point of view.
“Your avatar is as accurate as the data you share with your PKM,” Wong said.
The company said the PKM also acts as a fact-checking and verification layer, helping responses remain consistent with the user’s information and reducing the risk of inaccurate answers.
A Superhero-Themed Launch

PMX AI was introduced through a two-and-a-half-minute video filled with superhero and science-fiction references.
The video showed Anwar as different characters, including an astronaut, a shield-carrying superhero and a younger version of himself jumping across rooftops.
It also featured multiple Anwar avatars appearing together under the word “assemble”, a reference to the Avengers film franchise. The video ended by introducing the idea of a “Madani Multiverse”.
Despite its playful presentation, the main message was about using technology to expand communication between Malaysia’s leadership and the public.
“What if all these sides of me could be present at the same time?” the avatar asked.
PMX AI Could Gather Public Feedback
According to Zetrix AI, the avatar can communicate with voters, listen to their concerns and gather feedback on policy issues.
Wong said politicians from across the political divide could also create their own digital twins to communicate with voters through WhatsApp or Zetrix AI’s Avatar app.
In the future, similar AI agents may help users register for government job or training programmes and complete certain public services, such as renewing driving licences.
However, these advanced functions would depend on the authority and boundaries given to each AI agent.
A New Way To Reach Malaysia’s Leadership
Political leaders in other countries have also experimented with AI. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung previously used an AI avatar during an election campaign, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has used AI to communicate in multiple languages.
PMX AI brings a similar concept to Malaysia through WhatsApp, a platform already familiar to millions of Malaysians.
The initiative is intended to modernise governance and make the government easier to access. Members of the public can interact with PMX AI through WhatsApp at +603-7885 0523, or click here.
Ultimately, its value will depend on whether the public feedback gathered through PMX AI leads to meaningful engagement and action beyond the chatbot itself.
Update: Users attempting to access PMX AI through WhatsApp are currently receiving a notification stating that the service is temporarily unavailable and expected to resume at 8pm today.
