Selangor is rolling out a new RM10,000 interest-free financing scheme aimed at helping more residents start and grow their own businesses.

The initiative, known as the Pembiayaan Dana Pantas Usahawan, will provide financing of up to RM10,000 per applicant with a repayment period of up to three years. The Selangor government has allocated RM20 million for the programme, which is expected to benefit around 2,000 aspiring entrepreneurs across the state.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said applications can be submitted through the DANA PLUS by Hijrah Selangor digital application.

According to Amirudin, a large part of the economy is driven by small and medium enterprises (SMEs), many of which started as small entrepreneurial ventures.

“With the combination of efforts by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor and Platform Selangor (PLATS), the state government is introducing this financing so that more Selangor residents can venture into entrepreneurship,” he said while presenting the second phase of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package (PPDTS).

The RM209.26 million package also includes several measures aimed at supporting businesses and workers facing economic challenges.

In addition to the new financing programme, around 6,000 entrepreneurs with existing loans from Yayasan Hijrah Selangor will be allowed to restructure their financing without additional interest charges or penalty fees.

The Selangor Entrepreneur Recovery Initiative was introduced to help business owners whose operations have been affected by global supply disruptions and weaker business performance.

The state government has also allocated RM4 million for a career transition programme under Platform Selangor (PLATS). The programme offers 5,000 places to unemployed individuals interested in becoming entrepreneurs.

Participants will receive 12 months of internet and mobile data support, allowing them to access digital entrepreneurship training modules and apply for financing to start their businesses.

After completing the training, participants will also receive guidance on business strategies, gain access to the PLATS business ecosystem, and receive allowances to help ease living costs during the transition period.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Career Programme has been allocated RM1.5 million to match job seekers with industries looking for workers with suitable skills.

The programme is expected to involve around 30,000 residents seeking employment opportunities. The state government is working together with the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) and industry players in sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and logistics to implement the initiative.

With the introduction of these programmes, Selangor is strengthening support for entrepreneurs, job seekers, and SMEs, while creating more opportunities for business growth and employment amid ongoing economic uncertainties.
