Most children turn to Minecraft for play, creativity, and maybe the occasional late-night building spree. But for two Malaysian brothers, Mohammad Parsa Parhizkar, 12, and Mohammad Rohan Parhizkar, 9, Minecraft became something much more. It became a platform to revolutionize education. Their award-winning project, Minedu AI, transforms Minecraft into a fully interactive, AI-powered classroom. And they didn’t stop there, the duo went on to launch their own edtech startup, backed by Google Malaysia.
Representing SK Putrajaya Presint 8(1), the brothers recently stole the spotlight at ITEX 2025’s World Young Invention Exhibition, bringing home both the Gold Award and the Best Young Inventor Excellence Award (Primary Level), outshining 144 teams from 55 schools.

The Problem They Set Out to Solve

The inspiration behind their project, Minedu AI, came from a problem they saw in their own classrooms.
Traditional science lessons are often dry and abstract, especially for primary school students who need more visual, hands-on learning experiences. Many students struggle to connect concepts to real-world applications.
Even when Minecraft is used as an educational tool, it lacks intelligent features; no real-time feedback, no smart tutoring, and no personalised assistance. Teachers, too, are limited by the tools available within the game: static NPCs, rigid quiz blocks, and non-adaptive tasks.
Minedu AI: A Virtual Science Lab Inside Minecraft

The result of their mission is Minedu AI, a plugin that transforms Minecraft into an AI-powered educational platform.
By integrating Google’s Gemini AI, the plugin allows students to interact with intelligent NPCs that provide live tutoring. The AI observes player activity in real time. Students can type questions or commands directly in the game, and the AI will respond based on their current progress and understanding.
“We love Minecraft and want to make learning fun, not boring,” said Rohan.
Parsa added, “With AI, we can help every child learn better while enjoying the game they already love.”
Backed by Google, Built by Kids

What began as a school project quickly grew into a fully-fledged startup. With support from Google Malaysia, the brothers officially launched their company, Minedu AI, making them among Malaysia’s youngest tech entrepreneurs.
Their startup has already begun licensing the plugin to schools and conducting AI training workshops for students. Several schools across Malaysia are now testing the system in pilot programs.
A Win for Innovation, a Win for Malaysia
The victory at ITEX 2025 isn’t just a personal win for Parsa and Rohan, it’s a moment of pride for Malaysia too. Their success shows that Malaysian youth can be more than tech consumers; they can be creators and global innovators. It also reinforces the potential of integrating AI into education in ways that are accessible, engaging, and genuinely transformative.
