In conjunction with its silver jubilee, the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM) successfully hosted its Annual Financial Planning Symposium 2025 at M World Hotel on 22 May 2025. Themed “Shaping Financial Foundations, Securing Wealth for Tomorrow,” the event gathered over 800 financial planning professionals, both in person and virtually, to explore the evolving landscape of personal finance and wealth management.
This year’s symposium carried special significance, celebrating 25 years of FPAM’s contributions to the financial planning profession in Malaysia. Since its establishment, FPAM has remained steadfast in its mission to raise professional standards, champion financial literacy, and ensure consumer protection.
A Milestone for the Profession

In his opening address, Mr. Alvin Tan, President of FPAM, reflected on the association’s journey over the past two and a half decades.
“This year marks a significant milestone in FPAM’s journey. For 25 years, we have served as Malaysia’s premier body for financial planning professionals, upholding the highest standards of expertise, ethics, and service.”
He also reaffirmed FPAM’s commitment to professional excellence, highlighting the importance of engaging CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals when seeking financial advice. CFP® professionals, he emphasized, are bound by a globally recognized code of ethics, competence, and client-first practices.

Launch of FPAM’s 25th Anniversary Commemorative Book
A key moment of the symposium was the official launch of FPAM’s 25th Anniversary Commemorative Book, which documents the association’s progress, milestones, and contributions to Malaysia’s financial planning landscape over the years.
Mr. Tan remarked that the symposium was not merely a celebration but a strategic platform to elevate the financial planning ecosystem in Malaysia.
“This event connected the industry’s brightest minds with practitioners committed to excellence. It is our belief that this synergy will ultimately benefit consumers through improved access to quality financial advice.”
Advancing Financial Literacy and Resilience

In line with FPAM’s mission, the symposium addressed areas that directly impact the public, ranging from cyber risk protection and intergenerational wealth strategies to behavioural finance and emerging technologies.
By empowering planners with new insights and tools, FPAM continues to enable Malaysians to make sound, informed decisions in an increasingly complex financial environment.
Looking Forward
As it moves into its next chapter, FPAM remains committed to nurturing a vibrant community of financial professionals, expanding its public education efforts, and promoting high industry standards. Through these efforts, FPAM aims to build financial resilience and security for individuals and families across Malaysia.
