The YOMO 1st Women Entrepreneurs Innovation Achievement Awards were held on 17th May 2025, bringing together 27 incredible women entrepreneurs who have not only thrived in the beauty and anti-aging industry but have also pioneered advancements in needle-free aesthetic technologies. Hosted by the Advanced Aesthetic Asia Academy, the event was a celebration of their leadership, innovation, and resilience.
The event was attended by over 250 guests, including Co-founder Dr. Angela Chung, Dr Freddie Wong, President of the Malaysian Chinese Artists Association, seasoned businesswomen, rising stars, and those who’ve made successful career transitions into the beauty industry. It was a perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on these trailblazers who are redefining the landscape of beauty and wellness in Malaysia.

While the event’s guest of honor, YBhg. Datin Yuzaira, Chairman of PUSPANITA, couldn’t attend due to unforeseen circumstances, her place was gracefully taken by YBhg. Datin Christina Toh Lai Fong, Member of the Board of Directors at Tourism Malaysia. During her speech, Datin Christina highlighted the theme of the evening, “Shadows in Bloom,” which symbolizes the transformation, perseverance, and eventual success of women navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. It’s about those moments of struggle that lead to the bloom of opportunity, and this theme resonated deeply with the entrepreneurs honored that night.
The Growing Influence of Women Entrepreneurs

The night was also a chance to reflect on how much women entrepreneurs are contributing to Malaysia’s economy. According to the 2023 Economic Census, women-owned businesses in Malaysia have grown to represent 20.1% of all enterprises, with 219,015 women-owned businesses as of 2022. More impressively, these businesses have grown at an average annual rate of 2.3% between 2015 and 2022.
These women are not just making a dent in the economy; they are leading the charge in several sectors, with over 90% of these businesses in the services sector. Collectively, these businesses generated a staggering RM136.9 billion, contributing 3.6% to Malaysia’s GDP. The services sector alone brought in RM83 billion, with retail and wholesale trade being the biggest contributors.
As Datin Christina rightly pointed out, these numbers are a reflection not just of policies but of the grit and innovation of the women leading these businesses. YOMO’s entrepreneurs are proof of that, balancing family, career, and their entrepreneurial ventures while breathing new life into both their industries and the national economy.
Datin Christina also called on YOMO’s entrepreneurs to play an active role in Visit Malaysia Year 2026, encouraging them to use their platforms, networks, and influence to promote Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, cuisine, and tourist attractions to their international partners and clients. It’s a fantastic opportunity for these entrepreneurs to contribute to a larger national effort that will bring more international tourists to Malaysia, benefiting the local economy and creating more opportunities for business growth.
A Journey of Innovation

The evening also celebrated the achievements of the Advanced Aesthetic Asia Academy, founded in 2018 by Dr. Chin Kim Yoon and Dr. Angela Chung Hoong Lai. The academy has been at the forefront of developing needle-free anti-aging technologies, and their commitment to the growth of both the beauty and aesthetic industries is undeniable. Over the years, they’ve trained over 2,000 international students and supported 800 local women entrepreneurs, including single mothers, helping them achieve breakthroughs in both business and life.
“We’ve cultivated a YOMO entrepreneurial spirit that’s creating momentum for Malaysia’s needle-free anti-aging industry,” said Dr Chin, reflecting on the profound impact the academy has had on the industry. Their work has elevated beauty standards, created new business opportunities, and provided entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
Looking to the Future
The YOMO 1st Women Entrepreneurs Innovation Achievement Awards wasn’t just about celebrating the success of today, but also about inspiring the next generation of women entrepreneurs. These women are redefining what’s possible, carving out paths in industries that once seemed out of reach. They’re proof that with innovation, dedication, and a willingness to take on challenges, anything is possible.
The evening ended on a high note, filled with pride, joy, and excitement for what lies ahead. As Datin Christina said, the achievements of the YOMO women are not just about business success but about building a better, more sustainable future for women in Malaysia and beyond.
It’s clear that the YOMO women entrepreneurs aren’t just changing the beauty industry, they’re shaping the future of business in Malaysia, one innovation at a time.
