The journey of Biang Biang Noodle Bar, a beloved spot for hand-pulled noodles, is coming to an end as the restaurant has announced the closure of its last remaining outlet in REXKL. The news has left many loyal patrons disappointed, as the brand had built a strong reputation for serving authentic, thick, and chewy noodles reminiscent of the flavors from China’s Shaanxi province.
A Hard Lesson In The F&B Industry

In a candid social media post, the founders shared their struggles, citing “lack of experience and choosing the wrong partner” as critical challenges that contributed to the closure.
“We made the most common mistakes in the F&B industry such as no wastage control, no proper SOP, inconsistency of texture and taste, and bad customer service,” the statement read.
“We even got a partner who surrendered halfway because, really, startups are not for everybody. We were young, wild, and free, now we learn and grow.”
“We are sorry to disappoint those who supported us since the beginning.”
Their REXKL outlet will officially cease operations on 31 March 2025.
A Rise That Showed Promise

Biang Biang Noodle Bar first gained attention for its handmade, thick, belt-like noodles inspired by traditional Shaanxi cuisine. When it launched its first outlet in SS2 in 2023, it quickly garnered a loyal following. Its signature dishes featured long, wide, chewy noodles tossed in a fragrant and spicy meat sauce, topped with chili oil and vegetables. The dish, known for its bold, numbing flavors, was a hit among spice lovers.
Walk past their kitchen, and you’ll hear a distinct “Biang Biang” sound. And no, it’s not a commotion; it’s the rhythmic sound of noodles being stretched and pulled by hand.
At first glance, biang biang noodles may remind you of pan mee or mian fen gao, but co-founder Xian explained that their version is a fusion of both, combining their best qualities into a single dish.

Due to its initial success, the founders expanded by opening a second outlet in REXKL, later rebranded as Mee Biang Biang to appeal to a broader audience. The brand aimed to introduce a pork-free version of its famous noodles, with hopes of reaching the Muslim market and expanding into malls. However, despite these efforts, the SS2 branch permanently closed, and now the last remaining outlet is following suit.
Fans Express Their Disappointment
Since the announcement, social media has been flooded with messages from fans expressing their sadness. Many loyal customers shared memories of their favorite dishes and dining experiences, lamenting the loss of one of the few places in Kuala Lumpur where they could enjoy authentic biang biang noodles.
Others expressed hope that the team would make a comeback in the future.
Wong_advisor commented: “There is no failure, only learnings. Use this precious experience and iterate/pivot.”
Shelbystergram_ wrote: “Thank you for delicious biang biang noodles! I personally enjoyed them so much. It’s never easy running an F&B business, but you took the leap, learned valuable lessons, and gave it your all. Wishing you nothing but growth and success in your next chapter—this is just the beginning! Hope to see you guys come back even stronger one day. All the best!”
Back To Reality
For co-founder Xian, the restaurant was more than just a business, it was a personal dream. Leaving behind a stable career in the construction industry, he invested around RM300,000 to bring this venture to life.
Both founders, Xian and Wayne, had no formal culinary training, but they spent months perfecting their recipes, experimenting with different flour types and hydration levels to create the perfect chewy noodle. The dedication paid off as they built a strong fanbase, selling an average of 200 to 250 bowls a day. At peak production, their team could churn out 700 bowls daily.
Despite their best efforts, challenges piled up. While they once had big plans to expand, reality proved harsher than anticipated.
For those hoping to savor their last signature noodles one last time, the REXKL outlet remains open until the end of this month.
