The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2024) will shine a spotlight on the country’s commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the Halal sector. Under the theme “Globalising Halal Innovations,” the event aspires to be the top destination for global Halal companies to exhibit their latest advancements in products, services, and technologies across 14 carefully selected clusters.
Hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS 2024 will take place from September 17 to 20, 2024, at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

This year’s MIHAS aims to drive innovation within the global Halal ecosystem, strengthening Malaysia’s position as a global hub for the Halal industry. It also aligns with the goals of Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the Halal Industrial Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030).
YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, emphasized that MIHAS’ focus on innovation and sustainability aligns with NIMP’s objectives, which aim to transform Malaysia’s economy through advanced technology, Net Zero emissions, and inclusivity.
He said, “The development of the Halal industry fits in well with the MADANI concept where society will benefit from job creation and an increase in the standard of living. Recognised as one of the high-impact industries in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP), Halal plays a pivotal role in the overall development of our country.”
MIHAS 2024 will highlight innovation and sustainability across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance, fintech, lifestyle, modest fashion, and food ingredients. The emphasis will be on adding value and maintaining the integrity of the Halal value chain. Halal certification boosts consumer trust and aligns with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
In 2022, Malaysia exported RM23.35 billion worth of Halal ingredients, as reported by the Halal Development Corporation, while the global Halal ingredients market is valued at over US$60 billion, according to a 2023 report by The Business Research Company.

During the soft launch, YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Chairman of MATRADE, highlighted MIHAS’ role in creating connections that boost confidence in Halal products, supported by the International Sourcing Programme (INSP). MIHAS 2024 expects over 40,000 trade visitors and will feature 2,000 exhibition booths from 45 countries, including Malaysia.
“MIHAS has continuously attracted numerous buyers, distributors, and investors worldwide. Serving as a comprehensive hub, it offers businesses a platform to showcase the latest trends and technologies in the Halal industry, facilitating market expansion opportunities. By providing insights into market developments and consumer preferences, MIHAS is proven to be an enabler for businesses to stay abreast of industry advancements and maintain competitiveness in the global Halal market,” he stated.
Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican further noted that MATRADE will continue to support growth in the Halal market by fostering collaborations and improving global supply chain access. Last year, the INSP generated RM1.31 billion in sales, helping connect foreign buyers with Malaysian exporters and emphasizing the need for strong supply chains and innovation.
The MIHAS Knowledge Hub will also return, offering a series of events that provide insights into market trends, access, and requirements. With a focus on market access and innovation, it serves as a platform for the global Halal business community to share experiences and insights.
Through collaboration with industry partners, MIHAS continues to be recognized globally, with MATRADE receiving the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO) Award for ‘Best Use of Information Technology’ in 2022.
Celebrating its 20th edition, MIHAS 2024 reflects Malaysia’s leadership in the Halal industry and two decades of dedication to promoting trade and innovation within the sector, solidifying its position as a leading global platform for Halal products and services.
