Despite some people looking down on his business, it serves as the main source of livelihood for Kamarul Azizie Abdul Rahim, aged 51, and his 12 employees.
Offering over 34 distinct flavors, Kamarul Azizie manages to sell an estimated 2,000 packets of drinks daily, including those served in cups. He now includes popular yogurt drinks among his offerings.
This year, Kamarul expands his drink selection from 28 to 34 flavors and can rake in thousands of ringgit in a day.
However, fluctuations in weather conditions significantly impact sales, especially on rainy days, resulting in an average daily revenue ranging from RM7,000 to RM9,000.
“We’ve had to raise prices by RM1 due to escalating raw material costs, but we remain committed to maintaining the quality of our drinks,” he explained to Sinar Harian during the Ramadan bazaar at Bandar Baru Nilai.
According to Kamarul, they always boil water at home first to ensure customer satisfaction and for safety measurement as well.
Formerly a salaried worker, Kamarul Azizie now relies on his Ramadan sales as his primary source of income. At one point, he even earned tens of thousands within just four days.
“After leaving my job, this business became crucial for supporting my family,” he shared. “It hasn’t been easy; I started with just two containers of drinks and some fish crackers at a local supermarket.”
