The recent Taylor Swift concert in Singapore showed how the host country could benefit economically, with many businesses such as F&B operators, hotels and transportation benefitting from the event. It’s a shame for Malaysia as we could not reap all the benefits from this concert.
However, a bus service operator from Malaysia was able to capitalize on the recent Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Singapore. In an interview with BFM Radio, Amirul shared how he earned an impressive RM25,000 to RM30,000 in a single day by transporting concertgoers from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (you do the math on how much he made throughout the six-day concert).
The video interview of Amirul shared on X has so far garnered 1.7 million views, showcasing his simple business model. Amirul, a young entrepreneur, revealed that he operates three buses for a one-day trip to the concert.

He was surprised to see the extraordinary demand among Malaysian fans to catch their idol live. He said he did not only do it for the Taylor Swift concert; he had organized a few mega concerts held in Singapore as well as in Malaysia.
“If the demand is huge, then we add more buses to transport fans,” he said.
The bus service business needs a large amount of startup capital
Starting his business with RM10,000, Amirul reinvests all profits back into the business. Given the substantial business model, he needs to invest and also take into account various expenses, including bus rental at RM4,000 each, petrol costing RM900, maintenance, and drivers’ wages.
Amirul also revealed that it’s crucial to gain the trust of customers by providing the best customer service. He ensures to entertain customers’ questions regarding immigration processes, and places to eat, among others. He noted that scammers are a major problem for businesses.
