In celebration of International Women’s Day, Huawei Malaysia and the Women Leadership Foundation signed an MoU at the “Inspiring Inclusion & Environmental Leadership” event, witnessed by the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri.
Nancy, speaking at the event, highlighted the ministry’s focus on four crucial clusters: Women and Leadership, Women and Economy, Women’s Safety, and Women’s Well-Being. The theme for this year is “Inspiring Inclusion & Environmental Leadership,” with a commitment to achieving at least 30% representation of women in leadership positions across sectors.
Nancy also emphasized economic empowerment through programs focusing on financial management, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy to bridge the gender gap in economic participation. She highlighted the importance of safety and dignity, noting the enactment of the Sexual Harassment Act 2022 as a significant step towards a safer environment for women.
“The well-being of women, covering legal literacy and mental support, is our priority. Our programmes aim to empower women with knowledge and resources, ensuring their resilience in the face of challenges,” she said.
The event also featured a panel discussion on “Empowering Women in Tech and Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities” as part of the International Women’s Day celebration.
