KPKT achieved excellence in 2023, securing 15 noteworthy local and international awards, including the prestigious Platinum Category Ministry Award (Anugerah Kementerian Kategori Platinum). This accolade was conferred by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) under the Prime Minister’s Department.
Minister Nga Kor Ming in delivering his new year mandate, highlighted the four key focuses for KPKT in 2024. These include the construction of affordable homes and the development of new models for public housing programs, efforts towards enhancing infrastructure facilities for public convenience, and the development of Bandar MADANI and Bandar PR1MA.
He clarified that a significant number of public infrastructure projects, totalling 5,196, were completed in 2023. In 2024, the ministry aims to implement no fewer than 5,000 projects with an allocation of RM784 million.
To improve the functionality of local government, there is a targeted implementation of One Stop Centre (OSC) 3.0 Plus in urban and municipal councils, involving 30 local authorities, Nga said. The OSC Online is an electronic system for submitting and processing development control applications involving applicants such as urban planners, architects, and engineers.
Additionally, the ministry will enforce a ban on tree felling in line with sustainable environmental principles unless it poses a threat to public safety. Meanwhile, the ‘BMW’ toilet initiative, focusing on creating restrooms that are clean, charming, and fragrant, will be intensified.
