The Minister of Housing and Local Development (KPKT), Nga Kor Ming has announced the successful implementation of 5,196 high-impact community development projects for the year 2023, with a total allocation of RM700 million.
Nga also revealed that the approved allocation for the year 2023 has significantly increased by 43.1 per cent, totalling RM700 million compared to RM489 million in 2022.
From the total allocation, RM191 million has been approved for the implementation of MyKiosk, drainage projects, and flood retention pond projects.
“This 43.1 per cent increase demonstrates the success and efficiency of KPKT in formulating effective development strategies and making a significant impact on the people. This achievement not only reflects positive growth in the development sector in urban and small towns nationwide but also underscores KPKT’s commitment to meeting the needs and solving the problems of the people in the field,” Nga Kor Ming said during a media session while visiting the Seri Kembangan People’s Bazaar Market this morning.
“All these projects are implemented through collaboration between KPKT and Local Authorities (PBT) with a clear goal: to improve the quality of life and enhance economic opportunities for the local community through physical and socioeconomic development. The success of the 2023 project implementation can be translated through initiatives that have a high impact on PBT,” he explained.
Nga further elaborates that throughout 2023, KPKT has carried out diverse field activities through the Program Sentuhan Kasih KPKT across all states, aiming to comprehensively scrutinize and address the concerns of the people and Local Authorities (PBT). As a result, KPKT has approved RM72.7 million, covering 87 projects that can provide an immediate impact for problem-solving in the areas involved.
Additionally, Nga aims for a total of 50,000 public facility projects to be implemented nationwide within 10 years.
