Who’s the mastermind behind this strategic move? You’ll be surprised to know that he was a former motorcycle mechanic at Hong Leong Yamaha. So here’s his interesting entrepreneurial story

Muhd Zamry has a deep passion for the automotive industry with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He began his career as a motorcycle mechanic at Hong Leong Yamaha and later worked as a service executive at Modenas.
Subsequently, he joined Naza World as a sales executive. However, it wasn’t long before he returned to Modenas and later moved to KTM Motor before making the decision to start his own business.
After gaining extensive experience, he found the courage to open his own motorcycle shop, Kamalia Motor World. His business is significant but faces stiff competition.
“Sometimes the money earned from the business is not enough to pay my own salary”
He then realized that entrepreneurship is not easy. ‘Previously, I didn’t have to worry about getting a paycheck or not, because rain or shine, at the end of the month, my boss would pay my salary. But now, I have to think about paying the shop rent, and employees’ salaries, and sometimes there’s hardly anything left to sustain myself.
That’s when I thought, I can’t keep doing this forever. I need to do something different, something with less competition and quicker results.
Richiamo Coffee offers prices 40-45% lower than other premium brands in the country
Thus, he co-founded Richiamo Coffee with a partner. The first branch was at Universiti Utara Malaysia. The shop was doing great, and their customer base grew day by day.
According to him, the reason Richiamo Coffee is flourishing is due to the quality of the coffee served. Compared to international brands, the prices they offer are 45 per cent lower, making it accessible to everyone, especially students.
Today, he has become the largest shareholder in the company after two joint shareholders voluntarily relinquished their holdings. He now holds approximately 80 per cent of Richiamo Coffee Sdn Bhd.
As the sole largest shareholder, he plans to expand to several countries next year, including Singapore, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India, and Algeria.
He cited the success of bringing Richiamo Coffee to Siem Reap, Cambodia, as the foundation for the company’s overseas expansion.
Regarding future plans for the branch, Muhd Zamry mentioned that the company will soon introduce a new venture in the form of a convenience store chain based on a modern concept. He said the chain will be known as Richiamo Mart, similar in concept to other existing overseas chains operating in Malaysia.
