The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) has launched the Pengukuhan Mikro Madani Programme, in collaboration with SME Corp Malaysia, to help small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs). This program, introduced by Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, aims to support micro-entrepreneurs with loans, grants, and SME status registration vouchers.
A total of RM400 million has been allocated for this micro-entrepreneur empowerment program, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim under the Madani Economy Framework.
Four agencies, including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), SME Corp, Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju), and Tekun Nasional, are working together to organise and manage this initiative.
Minister Ewon explained, “Today, KUSKOP and SME Corp have launched initiatives under this program, including the Micro Entrepreneurship Grant (GPM), Micro Biz Financing (MBF), and the Tunas Belia Bumiputera Programme (TUBE), along with aids for young entrepreneurs.”
“We have also introduced the Bumiputera Enterprise Improvement Program (BEEP) Plus Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the SMEs Status Voucher, aiming to encourage more SME entrepreneurs to register in the country,” he added.
Additionally, Ewon shared that SME Corp has allocated RM100 million to fund the five initiatives mentioned above. He also emphasised that special efforts will be made to assist SMEs in Sabah and Sarawak, as well as the Indian community, through the Micro Madani Programme.
Minister Ewon said, “The Micro Madani Programme follows Madani principles, aiming to boost SME development by offering opportunities to businesses from all backgrounds.”
“I’ve requested for funds from this program to support micro-enterprises in Sabah and Sarawak, especially those led by Bumiputera entrepreneurs from these states. I will announce this soon,” he said.
