The Malaysia International Halal Exhibition Awards (MIHAS) 2023 celebrated 13 companies for their innovation and progress in the global Halal industry. They were recognized for integrating sustainability and digitalization into their products and services.
The awards ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), took place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
“The 10th edition of MIHAS Awards 2023 proved yet again that MIHAS is the right platform for innovative Halal companies to showcase their success stories. We were very impressed with the quality of the submissions,” said MATRADE Chairman YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who also pointed out that many submissions had very strong elements of sustainability and digitalisation.”
He highlighted that MATRADE prioritised these two criteria when reviewing the submissions because they are essential for exporters aiming to succeed in the global Halal industry. Other factors taken into account included the quality of products and services, as well as export performance.
The awards are categorized into two main sections: MIHAS Excellence Awards and MIHAS Innovative Awards. They received nearly 80 entries from various product and service sectors. In addition to local entries, judges also evaluated submissions from international exhibitors representing countries like Brazil, China, Thailand, South Korea, and Indonesia.

The MIHAS Excellence Awards are divided into three categories: ‘Products Excellence Awards,’ ‘Services Excellence Awards,’ and ‘Malaysia Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Excellence Awards.’ This division aims to encourage more local MSMEs to participate. The MIHAS Innovative Awards recognize accomplishments in two categories: ‘Products Category’ and ‘Services Category.’
Furthermore, the awards highlighted the adoption of innovative and sustainable organic ecosystems by Delima Emas Sdn Bhd, which received a Special Recognition Award.
During the ceremony, two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were exchanged. One was between MATRADE and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS), aiming to support Malaysian franchises in the export market. The second MOU was between Hadramawt Kitchen (HK) Sdn. Bhd. and Delima Emas Sdn. Bhd., promoting collaboration in strengthening the country’s Halal supply chain.
