The Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) is set to host its inaugural 2023 KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award and 2023 KPKT Media Excellence Award ceremonies, aimed at acknowledging the significant roles played by both KPKT employees and media professionals.
Its Minister, Nga Kor Ming announced that The 2023 KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award ceremony will be held on Nov 11 while The KPKT Media Excellence Award 2023 will take place on Nov 3.
The 2023 KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award reflects the ministry’s commitment to enhancing KPKT service delivery, including local authorities (PBT), which remains a central focus of the ministry in ensuring the well-being of the people.
Through the KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award 2023, 12 categories will be contested, including Ministerial Excellence Award, Best Leadership Award, Top Personality Award, PBT Leadership Award, KPKT Green Award, Prosperous Organisation Award and Excellent PBT Award.
Nga mentioned that the Ministerial Excellence Award will grant the recipient a cash prize of RM20,000, a certificate of appreciation, a trophy, and the opportunity to participate in a short-term course at globally acclaimed universities like Harvard and Oxford.
“The short-term course is the most prestigious gift offering the winner an opportunity to undergo a two-week leadership course at a selected university abroad,” he said, adding that the KPKT was engaged in discussions with Harvard University and the University of Oxford regarding this initiative.
Furthermore, he mentioned that a total of 10 media awards will be up for contention, including Best Housing Coverage Award, Best ‘Wira Merah’ (Firefighters) Coverage Award, Best Radio Coverage Award, Best Photo Journalism Award and Special Ministerial Award.
Each category offers a cash prize of RM3,000 and a trophy, while the recipient of the Special YB KM Award will receive a cash prize of RM10,000.
Nga disclosed that as of Monday (August 14), the KPKT had received 227 nominations for the 2023 KPKT Ministerial Excellence Award and 50 articles for the 2023 KPKT Media Excellence Award.
The nomination deadlines for the two awards are August 31 for ministry employees and September 5 for media personnel.
