“You cannot achieve success overnight“ – this phrase perfectly encapsulates the journey of Jasmin Pannoot, the owner of Karipap Ale-Ale, who tirelessly walked 10 kilometres around Dataran Pontian and Laman Diraja Pontian each day, carrying a basket filled with irresistible curry puffs.
At the age of 49, Jasmin took a leap of faith and started his culinary venture, Karipap Ale-Ale, with a mere RM40 in his pocket. Motivated by previous business setbacks, he made up his mind to try his hand in the food and beverage industry.
However, becoming a street vendor came with its own set of challenges. Jasmin admits that it was no easy feat to overcome the initial embarrassment associated with his new occupation.

As he had to walk 10 kilometres every day to sell curry puffs, Jasmin shared that his hands became immobile due to carrying the basket for too long. Therefore, he resorted to using a trolley to continue selling his curry puffs.

However, after 7 years of hard work, Jasmin’s efforts finally paid off. Fueled by the growing demand for his delectable curry puffs, he made the decision to elevate his business to new heights.
With the support and guidance of the Smallholder Rubber Authority, he established a shop with the capacity to produce an impressive quantity of 2,000 to 5,000 curry puffs per day.

Due to demand, he then set up stalls in renowned eateries like Restoran Kopi Tenggek in Tanjung Piai and Restoran Kemangi in Bandar Pontian, attracting a broader customer base. He even explored international markets, engaging in discussions with Singaporean entrepreneurs to bring Karipap Ale-Ale across the border.
