It’s never easy starting up a new business – just ask aspiring entrepreneurs, and they will tell you the hurdles and struggles that have kept them awake on many nights. Wargabiz had the chance to interview a stunningly beautiful, talented, and humble woman, who is fabulous as always in her “pink” element, Sasha Abdul Aziz, founder of SuperWoman Sdn Bhd.
SuperWoman founder turned tragedy into a beauty empire
“My path to self-employment seemed to me, unexpected good luck. I never thought of building a business on my own. Rather, it was borne out of necessity. But, the journey wasn’t that smooth – I encountered several obstacles or I could say them as life lessons before finally reaching the destination,” Sasha tells.
After quitting her job as a flight attendant, Sasha was unemployed for quite some time. She had no idea what to do at that time until a friend of hers approached and asked her to start a business together.
A tragic event that inspires her to start SuperWoman
“We did ozone therapy treatment and it was very popular at that time. We even made a lot of money. In less than one year, we had hundreds of customers, thanks to our friends that supported us including a few celebrities. But, there’s a catch – it’s not a legit business as we didn’t get approval from KKM to do it,” she shares.
Despite they operated it illegally, the business went well. Not until one particular day when something huge happened that made her re-evaluate her decision.
“A lady in her 40ish came with her kid to do ozone therapy. All was good, we chatted for a while and she was happy. However, I didn’t realise the nurse missed one step in the procedure. She didn’t close the tube correctly!”
“I saw air bubbles in her veins and suddenly she told me she can’t breathe. I panicked and I tried to figure out what was wrong. Oh my God! The nurse didn’t close the tube properly! I told the nurse to stop the treatment and we removed everything from her body. But she still can’t breathe because the air bubbles have travelled to her heart,” Sasha continues.
“It’s time for me to close the book and move on”
Sasha knew she messed up. Doctors kept on questioning and blaming her for providing illegal treatment. Thankfully, the lady was kind enough to help her.
“She told the doctors that it wasn’t my fault. She said she was the one who came to the shop and she’s fully aware the shop is not certified. So she took all the blame,” adding that the lady is a police officer and she has the right to charge or arrest her.
The incident really opened up her eyes to not take things lightly anymore. “I’m not going to do this anymore because when everything happened, the founder which is my friend didn’t help me at all. I had to go through it alone. So it’s time for me to close the book and move on.”
Empowering women to be confident in their bodies
According to Sasha, she was unemployed for a year – didn’t know what else to do. “After dealing with my fair share of struggles and fears, instead of giving up, I started to develop a deep sense of passion for a healthy lifestyle. I keep myself busy with workouts, practising a healthy lifestyle and taking good care of my body.”
“A friend of mine told me that I should come out with products that can help women to feel confident in their bodies – and that’s how I started. I started with SexyCurve before changing to SuperWoman. It was just a small home-based business. My first product is Bengkung Strap and to my surprise, the product went viral and I made thousands in just a week!”
“I promoted the product via my Instagram. Well, it was a one-man show – I did everything from promoting, packaging, posting and even delivery.”
From a one-man show to hiring hundreds of agents and staff
From a small home-based business, Sasha finally had the opportunity to rent a shop and hire staff. At that point, her sister joined her company and helped her in marketing – up until now.
SuperWoman Sdn Bhd has several products such as Detox Tea, Girdle Pants, Meal Replacement, Vita Fair, Milk Booster, and B Job and their best-seller product is Bengkung Strap. Just recently, they launched a new product which is Corset.
Her team slowly growing and from selling via social media, she now has hundreds of agents. According to Sasha, over 10 agents have achieved financial freedom under SuperWoman. It was one of her biggest achievements to be able to help women to be fearless and powerful.
“We are allowed to make mistakes in business“
“It’s never easy running the business alone. Sometimes I feel like I was unprepared, or maybe ignorant. Well, most of the time, I never expected hurdles to come my way until I had tripped right over them. I lost a few thousand to a marketing company before. They promised to help me market my product and give me a good return. I learned my lesson because, after a few months, our sales didn’t change at all. Well, I lost my money,” she laughs.
As someone who creates her luck in entrepreneurship, Sasha emphasized always believing in the journey. “You must love what you are doing. The products you choose to sell must match with yourself so that you’ll be passionate about selling them.”
“Keep in mind that don’t do anything halfway. You must finish whatever you’ve started. Be consistent in doing it, and finally, you need to have a strong mindset, mentally and physically,” she ends.
