Being taught to be independent since young, the Stanford graduate carved her own entrepreneurial journey with an online startup called Guiltless. Founded in 2016, Guiltless is a luxury fashion online portal that allows anyone to sell the designer brand they no longer use. Thus, giving anyone else who is interested in pre-loved designer goods to purchase them at a reasonable price.
3. Guiltless has become a leader in Hong Kong’s luxury consignment market
The daughter of prominent Asian businessman Robert Kuok recognised the opportunity in luxury e-commerce while working at J.P. Morgan. She had the opportunity to explore online user behaviours – particularly those of Chinese teenagers when she worked at Google’s previous Beijing office.
Yen then went on to learn about upscale real estate at Kerry Properties Limited – before she delved into the luxury fashion online startup, Guiltless. She had the inspiration to start Guiltless because she would often buy second-hand clothes when she was studying overseas in the United States.
She clarified she would often exchange and share clothes with her friends during her student days. Hence, gave her an incredible idea to develop Guiltless – an ambitious tech startup that combines her business acumen with a knowledge of fashion consumer patterns.
4. Her startup is currently joining forces with The Luxury Closet (TLC)
Three years later, the startup has become a leader in Hong Kong’s luxury consignment market. She recently announced that she is joining forces with The Luxury Closet (TLC) – the largest online marketplace for luxury goods in the Middle East, according to Tatler Asia.
