Super app Grab has rolled out the beta version of its live shopping feature for Malaysian users. Dubbed GrabLive (BETA), the live shopping feature is a collaboration with Singapore-based BeLive Technology – a live streaming solutions provider.
Like other live streaming services, the new function will enable merchants on Grab’s platform to have real-time engagement with their customers. It comes with a chat function and a virtual gifting function that allow consumers to show their support for the merchants; content creators and influencers on air. Consumers can also tap on a button on the bottom right that shows available promo codes that they can take advantage of when making purchases during live.
In order to access GrabLive, you can scroll way down to the “Keep Discovering” section in your Grab app. Then, click on the GrabLive (BETA) button. For first time users accessing GrabLive, you’ll be prompted to key in your mobile number and eventually, you’ll need to verify your identity with a six-digit verification code sent via SMS. Once you’ve done the verification process, you’ll be able to access the live shopping feature and watch any live shows that are ongoing.
The development of the live shopping feature comes after BeLive’s recent US$4.4 million (RM18.8 mil) bridge funding round. Before Grab, BeLive has also worked with businesses such as Zalora, Changi Airport Group, Rakuten Group and many more for similar programmes.
