When Swatch and OMEGA announced the drop of its BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection, people were going crazy – not only in Malaysia but the whole world. The collaboration sparks interest among Swatch’s buyers because OMEGA is a top name and also all the watches have a high value. Besides, the new collaboration comes with a price tag that you may not be able to accept for an OMEGA watch.
Swatch X OMEGA BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection
The BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection offers 11 different colourways and each of them is meant to represent the planetary bodies within the Solar System – including the Sun, Moon, Pluto, as well as eight IAU-defined planets.
Each watches come in different colours representing planetary bodies within the Solar System. For instance, the “Mission on Earth” variant comes in an elegant green, blue and white which matches the planet’s colour palette. The new MoonSwatch collection has been described as a “playful take” on the world-famous Omega Speedmaster chronograph.
A playful take – inspired by outer space

Undeniably, the Swatch X OMEGA collaboration is really pretty. The case of these watches was built from a composite material called Bioceramic. Hence, the name of the collaboration is BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch. The case is made of a mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced plastic which Swatch has just introduced to the market last year. All the watches come with a Velcro strap.
The collections were priced at an affordable RM1,065

What caused the hype? Well, apparently the new collection is the most affordable OMEGA watch on the market – priced at only RM1,065. The majority of watches by OMEGA are in the five-figure mark and up – costing anywhere from RM13,000 to RM300,000. That being said, it is a good deal and people are really keen to purchase the luxury brand at such an affordable price.
Apparently, the watches are only limited to one watch per person, causing people to camp overnight at Pavillion KL
Swatch released a statement on its website that the watches will be limited to one person until further notice. Malaysians were eager to get their hands on the collection which led to a massive crowd at Pavillion KL due to the fact that the collection is only available for sale at the Pavillion KL branch.
A huge crowd were seen camping at Pavillion overnight to the first to buy the watches. Originally, customers were allowed to buy 2 watches per person, but then it was changed to 1 watch per person as the demand skyrocketed.
The massive crowd were not only happened in Malaysia but in Singapore, Hong Kong and many other places. However, Swatch reemphasises that this isn’t a limited edition collection and the watches will be available in selected Swatch stores in the coming weeks.
