Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that 8.6 million individuals will receive the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) phase 1 financial aid from March 28 to April 8. Ismail Sabri said the recipients will comprise 4 million households, 1.2 million senior citizens (who are single or without a spouse) and 3.4 million other single individuals from the B40 group.
He further said eligible recipients would receive BKM between RM100 and RM300 each – depending on their eligibility. The BKM financial aid is said to ease the financial burden of the people, especially in preparing for the coming Ramadan.

Eligible recipients for the BKM financial aids include:
- Households with an income of RM5,000 and below
- Senior citizens (aged 60 years and above) who are single or without a spouse and with an income of RM5,000 and below, and
- Individuals (aged 21 to 59 years) with an income of RM2,500 and below.
Under the BKM initiative, households will receive cash assistance of between RM400 and RM2,000 – depending on their total household income and the number of children they have. On the other hand, eligible senior citizens will receive a total of RM600 while individuals will receive a total of RM350.
Furthermore, additional cash assistance will be given to household recipients who are single parents (extra RM500) or senior citizen parents (extra 300).
Recipients will receive the financial aid automatically in their bank accounts
The aids would be credited to the recipients’ bank accounts. Meanwhile, cash aids for individuals without bank accounts would be made from March 30 through Bank Simpanan Nasional. The payouts will be made in stages later this year.
Those who would like to appeal could submit their appeals within a month from May 2.
“This is to reconsider rejected applications, by allowing applicants to submit an appeal with the necessary documents to be verified by the Inland Revenue Board.
Recipients may check their approval status on the website https://bkm.hasil.gov.my from March 28.
