Genting’s CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay might be the highest-paid person in all of Malaysia – according to a new ranking of the country’s top 10 CEOs. Shariah Screener published the ranking. The data is obtained from corporate reports and the company’s annual report. The top 10 list is calculated based on CEO’s monthly and annual salary, bonuses and benefits.

No 1 & 2: Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay
Company: Genting Bhd, Genting Malaysia Bhd
Annual salary: RM200,912,000
The highest-paid CEO in Malaysia is Genting head Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, who took home an annual remuneration of RM200,912,000 million from his two positions as head of Genting Bhd and director of Genting Malaysia Bhd.
Lim, 70 was ranked No 11 on Forbes Malaysia’s 50 Richest 2021 and Billionaires 2021. His real-time net worth stood at $2.3 billion (RM962.5 billion), according to Forbes. He owns stakes in casino resorts across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and the U.S. The Genting Group also owns palm oil plantations in Malaysia. Lim also owns a cruise business, Genting Hong Kong where he just recently stepped down as chairman and CEO after the cash-strapped operator Star Cruises filed to wind up the company due to loss as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to hit the tourism industry.
No 3: Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Tay Ah Lek

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Tay Ah Lek is a Director of Public Mutual since August 1995. He has 60 years of experience in the banking and finance industry. Tay was appointed as an Executive Director of Public Bank on 18 June 1997 and was re-designated as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 July 2002. He joined the Public Bank Group as a pioneer staff in 1966. He was the Executive Vice-President of Public Bank from 1995 to 1997 and prior to this appointment, he was the Executive Vice-President of the former Public Finance Bhd.
No 4: Dr Kelvin Lo Chi Keon
Company: IHH Healthcare Berhad
Annual salary: RM20,234,000
Dr Kelvin Loh is the CEO and Managing Director of IHH Healthcare Berhad (IHH). He also serves n the Boards and Board Committees of IHH subsidiaries. He first joined IHH Group in 2008. He held a number of senior management roles before taking over as the CEO of its Singapore Operations Division (now known as IHH Healthcare Singapore) covering among other services, the four multi-speciality tertiary hospitals – Mount Elizabeth, Mount Elizabeth Novena, Gleneagles and Parkway East.
No 5: Domenic Fuda

Mr Domenic Fuda was appointed as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong Bank Berhad (HLB) on 5 February 2016. Mr Domenic Fuda is a member of the Executive Committee and Credit Supervisory Committee of HLB. He is also a Director of Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad and Hong Leong Bank (Cambodia) PLC and a Council Member of Hong Leong Bank Vietnam Limited, all wholly-owned subsidiaries of HLB. He is also a Council Member of AICB and The Association of Banks in Malaysia.
No 6: Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor

The eldest son of Tan Sri Dato’ Lee Shin Cheng, Datuk Lee Yeow Chor was first appointed to the Board on 25 April 1996 and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Group on 8 January 2014. He is responsible for setting the strategic directions and ensuring the optimal performance of IOI Group core business segments. Dato’ Lee is a barrister from Gray’s Inn, London and holds an LLB (Honours) from King’s College London and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting from London School of Economics.
No 7: Kuan Kam Hon @ Kwan Kam Onn

Kuan Kam Hon @ Kwan Kam Onn was appointed as Executive Chairman and Managing Director on 7 May 2007. He stepped down as Managing Director on 16 November 2012 and continues to play an integral role in the Group as Executive Chairman. Kuan Kam Hon is primarily responsible for the overall business, strategic planning and entire operations of the Group, including research and development.
He began his career in the building and construction sector in 1969 under Kuan Yuen & Sons Company, a well-known quality homebuilder in the 70s specialising in upper-class residential units in the Klang Valley. In 1978, he started Timol Weaving Sdn Bhd, one of the pioneers in woven labels and badges.
In 1981, he formed Hartalega Sdn Bhd. Under his leadership, Hartalega Sdn Bhd has since become a reputable manufacturer of latex gloves in the industry and is now a public listed company on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, known as Hartalega Holdings Berhad.
No 8: Tan Kong Khoon

Mr Kong Khoon Tan has been Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Bank Berhad since July 1, 2013. Mr Tan also serves as Senior Investment Consultant of DBS Capital Investment Ltd. He holds Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Bishop’s University Canada, Executive Management Program for Bankers from Wharton School of Business & National University of Singapore and Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School U.S.A.
No 9: Datuk Abdul Farid Alias

Appointed as Group President & Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Group on the 2nd of August 2013, Datuk Farid helms Maybank Group’s overall business growth and regionalisation strategies and ensures the delivery of long-term value for shareholders, customers, employees and all other stakeholders. Datuk Abdul Farid was named CEO of The Year in the ASEAN Business Awards 2015, which recognises outstanding enterprises in the ASEAN business community. He was also awarded the CNBC Asia Business Leader Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2015.

Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson, 57, a Malaysian, is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Berhad. He was appointed to the Board on 1 December 2017.
Dato’ Jeffri is currently a Director of Kumpulan Sime Darby Berhad, Sime Darby Holdings Berhad, Sime Darby Malaysia Berhad and several other private limited companies under the Sime Darby Group. He is also a Director of Yayasan Kecemerlangan Sukan Malaysia, a Council Member of Yayasan Sime Darby and The Outward Bound Trust of Malaysia, and a Member of Majlis Pekerjaan Negara.
