The NFT (non-fungible tokens) is gaining popularity among creative and art people like graphic designers, illustrators etc – selling digital data such as drawing, memes, music or game character. However, there’s a new trend where even celebrities are jumping into the NFT marketplace – making millions in just a short span of time.
Recently, Singapore-based influencer and Instagram model Yuqing Irene Zhao listed her NFT on 14 Jan and gained over RM2.3 million in just 10 days. Her NFT collection features her Telegram meme sticker pack – with 1,106 memes with texts like “Shut Up,” “GM (Good Morning),” “Take My Money,” and “Simp”.
She generated S$7.5 million (RM2.3 Mil) in sales within 10 days, garnering purchases from prominent individuals like Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz and YouTuber Logan Paul.
According to Zhao, her NFT collection is currently listed on Opensea – a peer-to-peer marketplace for NFTs, and crypto collectables.
Her listing description on Opensea notes, “IreneDAO is a global grassroots movement aimed at disrupting the creator economy. IreneDAO is for the people, by the people. Our core values are Sincerity, Integrity, Meaning, and Purpose.”
The cheapest NFT costs 0.94 Ethereum or about S$3,300 (RM9,328) and the highest is S$223,506 (RM695, 021). *based on current prices.

According to a source, her endeavours began with her selling the memes as a sticker pack on Telegram. A fan later advised her to turn the memes collection into NFTs. In just a few days, she tokenised the stickers into 1,106 NFTs.
She clarified that she is not profiting from it. Instead, the money collected is funnelled into the IreneDAO community to experiment with ways of integrating Web3 into the creator community. The idea was inspired by her own journey of being an influencer and having to rely on sponsored posts to make a living.
