Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) candidates will soon get to enjoy internet packages from five telecommunication companies (telcos) in the first quarter of next year until the examinations end in April.
According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the initiative by Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia includes special data packages; pre-paid data passes at RM20 for 15GB for 30-day periods from Jan 6, 2021.
Free mobile phones for students from B40 families

Furthermore, MCMC also said students from low-income (B40) families can apply to receive free mobile phones under the Learning From Home (LFH) program provided by the YTL Foundation which includes a free SIM card with 40GBs worth of data.
YTL will also extend the Learning From Home (LFH) facility until the two examinations mentioned are over.
Besides, Celcom, Digi, Maxis, TM and YTL will continue their free online classes, namely Celcom for its Tuisyen Rakyat programme, followed by Digi (with Jom Tuisyen), Maxis (e-Kelas), TM (I-Learn Ace) and YTL (LFH).

This initiative also covers free WiFi access provided at public spaces at 130 People’s Housing Projects (PPR) throughout the country until the end of April 2021, which will be undertaken by Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM and TIME.
Moreover, the community internet centres’s operating hours will be from 9AM to 9PM to accommodate SPM and STPM candidates and students from B40 families to conduct their learning.
