The Walt Disney Company South-East Asia has recently announced that its online streaming platform – Disney+ appointed Ahmad Izham Omar as executive director of content & creative. The appointment has immediate effect and he will be based in Singapore to report to Amit Malhotra, regional lead, emerging markets, The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific.
He will be responsible for developing and producing original programming as well as acquiring content, ensuring end-to-end title launch readiness. According to Disney+, Ahmad Izham will also oversee the production of surround content for major sports and general entertainment programs.

“Ahmad Izham joins the team at an important juncture when Disney+ is expanding its footprint in South-East Asia, and his strategic vision, breadth of experience and outstanding leadership will be key in steering Disney’s creative engine and delighting subscribers with the magic of our storytelling,” said Malhotra in a statement.
Within South-East Asia, Disney+ has only launched in Indonesia to date. There it hatched a partnership with leading local player Telkomsel and branded the service Disney Plus Hotstar. No date has been given for further regional rollout.
Ahmad Izham Omar was previously CEO of Primeworks Studios at Media Prima
The 50-year-old was previously worked as the CEO of Malaysia’s largest production house, Primeworks Studios and played a major part in launching 8TV and also streaming platform, Tonton.
Ahmad Izham Omar is also a multi award-winning music producer, arranger, songwriter and musician where he collaborated with local artistes such as Faizal Tahir, Siti Nurhaliza, Too Phat and Relish.
