The last 3 years was a significant milestone for Malaysian-made household products, LEYNA by Flenaz Synergy Sdn Bhd. The homegrown entrepreneurship has been helping Malaysians get a pristine pillow with uncompromising quality with affordable price. Currently, LEYNA has over 9,000 agents and dropshippers operating across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
In a conversation with WargaBiz, Natasha Nordin shares on the background story of how her life has completely changed with the creation of Flenaz Synergy.
The creation of LEYNA

Natasha Nordin created the LEYNA empire from scratch in 2017. She did it while being a full-time housewive to three kids. However, the pillow empire has a long and wonderful story to be told to the next generation.
Previously, she worked in the engineering line and later joined SIRIM. But, it wasn’t life that she longed for. She had to sacrifice her time and being apart with her husband and kids due to work commitment. Until one point, she decided to quit her job and focus on being a housewife. As a stay-at-home mom, she ran several lucrative online businesses and she enjoyed doing it.
That was the moment where she met her then business partner, Norlaila Yusof. “Norlaila was one of my top agents for one of my online businesses. We shared the same mission which is to help as many people as we could. We had a thought of setting up our own business so we can control our pricing and rewarding system. Later in September 2017, the idea for Flenaz Synergy – a company that aims to help people came to me.”
A husband and wife team

Flenaz Synergy was established in September 2017. The team consists of the husband and wife team, Natasha and her husband Mohamad Azli Che Azhar and Norlaila and Mohd Fairouz Bakar. The company’s name itself was created from an acronym of all four names symbolises their relationship.
Flenaz has started off with the creation of LEYNA pillow. The idea came in just at the right time where Natasha found out that there are almost none shops that sell household products online. Most of the time, people have to go to malls to shop.
“Everything was started from scratch – from searching for the perfect factory manufacturing household products to designing the perfect pillow according to our standard. We searched high and low for the perfect pillow. LEYNA pillow is our greatest product,” she says.
A new start for LEYNA pillow

The pillow has its uniqueness. For Natasha, she wants to focus more on solving a problem rather than creating something that won’t give benefit to the masses. For LEYNA, the pillow is made from the highest quality material that provides the right comfort, at affordable price and most importantly, washable.
“We guarantee that our pillow can be washable and it will remain in the perfect shape after drying. The material that we used won’t get easily damaged by washing machine. That’s our promise to our customers.”
“The pillow also has a zip at the back so people can adjust the height of the pillow based on their liking. They can take out the fibre or add more fibre if they prefer a squashy and soft pillow. It’s adjustable.”
Besides, LEYNA pillow has attractive patterns so people don’t need to spend more on buying a pillowcase. That’s one of the elements that distinguish their pillow than the rest in the market.
1 million pillows sold in 3 years

For Natasha, figures have never been her goals. But undeniably, they managed to sell over 1 million pillows in just 3 years. The pillows have been favourably received and their sales have drastically increased over a short period.
The company has expanded to 3-storey building with two warehouses located near the premise. The latest warehouse in Bukit Raja is their new addition to accommodate more stocks.
The power of treating team members like family

Speaking about success stories, Natasha emphasises the company is run like a family. All her life, she likes to inspire and educate people and she wants to see her team growing together with her.
“I always ask myself, how many lives have I touched today? Did I contribute well to my agents? Are they happy working with me? Being a mom and a wife who struggled to do online business before, I could relate to their personal problems. My focus is on them and they’re my emotional drive.”
The pillow entrepreneur advice for those wanting to start new entrepreneurship is to have the right mindset. “When we talk about entrepreneurship, you need to know what is your mission. As an entrepreneur, you must set a mission to help others because entrepreneurship is all about being a leader.”
