The government announced another economic stimulus package under the Prihatin SME Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin SME Plus) worth RM 600 million for the Special Prihatin Grant (GKP). The government has decided to reopen the application for the Special Prihatin Grant (GKP) from October 1 until October 31, 2020.
According to the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the reopening of the Prihatin Special Grant for new applications is expected to benefit more than 200,000 micro entrepreneurs.

In a special televised address yesterday, he said that he received complaints that some entrepreneurs did not receive the assistance as they were not able to apply within the stipulated time. There were also some micro entrepreneurs who did not meet the requirement of having a registered business prior to Jan 1, 2020.
He further explained under the Prihatin SME Plus for small and medium enterprises, the government provided the GKP to ease micro entrepreneur’s financial burden due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wage subsidy at a rate of RM 600 per month for each employee at a maximum of 200 workers
Furthermore, under the Kita Prihatin Programme, he said the government has allocated RM 2.4 billion to carry out the Wage Subsidy Programme 2.0 that is expected to benefit 1.3 million workers from October until the end of this year.
The wage subsidy will be given to affected employers who had suffered at least a 30% loss since the Recovery Movement Control Order period. The subsidy is given up three months at a rate of RM 600 per month for each employee at a maximum of 200 people.

Applicants can start applying for the grant beginning October 1 until October 31, 2020 and payments are targeted to be made starting from Nov 25 onwards.
