In celebration of the Proton Saga’s 35th anniversary, the national carmaker is introducing a special edition of the model: the Proton Saga Anniversary Edition that is limited to just 1,100 units.
The Proton Saga Anniversary Edition sporting some unique styling cues in a shade of black and yellow, an N95 cabin filter and the same price tag as the 1.3-litre Premium AT variant – at RM 39,300 (on-the-road without insurance or sales tax).
What makes the Proton Saga Anniversary even more unique is, the national carmaker will only produce 1,100 units
The Saga Anniversary Edition comes in black paint that’s accented by a touch of yellow on external wing mirrors. Besides, the striking yellow colour is also found on the strips of the front upper grille garnish and rear bumper garnish.
This itself makes the special edition Saga stand out, but to further set it apart from the regular models, the special edition model retaining the same 15-inch alloy wheels but gave it a respray to matte grey.
Now onto the interior
Inside the cabin, the instrumental panel is still the same as from the regular model, however, the yellow stripes are applied on the air conditioning vents and centre console.
If you’re wondering why Proton decided to go with a black and yellow colour scheme for this special edtion Saga, it’s actually a nod to the carmakers motorsports division, R3.
The special edition Saga also has an N95 cabin filter
The model also included an N95 cabin filter that filters out 95% of particles down to 0.3 microns and 98% of PM2.5 dust particles – which includes smoke particulates, dust, bacteria and other airbone pollutants.
The N95 cabin filter is available for all existing Proton models registered after 9 July 2020. Existing Saga owners can buy the filter for RM 50.15 but after Oct 9, the price increases to RM59 (excluding labour).
Nothing much on the engine part as the model is still powered by a 1.3L four-cylinder engine that outputs 95hp and 120Nm of torque, which is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai. The CVT option was phased out when the Saga was facelifted last year.
Other specifications of this special edition Saga include LED daytime running lights, an Android-based infotainment system, a reverse camera, two airbags, electronic stability control, traction control system, as well as ABS with EBD.
However, Proton owners can still buy the special anniversary accessories for just RM 2,035 that is compatible with all 2019 Saga model variants
Besides the Special Edition Saga, the national carmaker also launched the 35th Anniversary Accessories package that is open to all 2019 Saga buyers.
