Reza Huzairi Zainuddin, an ex-Covid-19 patient is the first blood plasma donor in the country
Reza’s blood plasma was found to be powerful, healthy and suitable. It is said that the blood plasma meet the criteria for facilitating the treatment of other Covid-19 patients.
“I am overwhelmed and proud that Allah replaced my sadness in 2020 with the opportunity to help other patients by donating my blood plasma.”
“During the one-hour long process of collecting my blood plasma at the National Blood Bank on April 2, I had the opportunity to ask the doctor many questions on treating the infection using blood plasma from Covid-19 patients who had recovered.
It turns out that not everyone can donate blood plasma
There are a few criteria to fulfill. The donor must be free from any chronic illness, not on any long-term medication and completely healthy. Reza, has passed all the criteria and his blood plasma fitted the bill.
Unfortunately, he could only donate up to 500 ml of blood plasma at one time
As he weighs about 65 kg, the ex-covid-19 patient could only donate up to 500 ml of blood plasma at one time. However, the amount can be used on several Covid-19 patients.
So, he planned to donate again
Reza plans on returning 2 weeks later and donating more of his blood plasma as long as the doctor permitted. He wishes to help more patients. Doctors have told him that by injecting his plasma into the blood of a person who has the same blood type, it will produce the best results. Hence, he hopes that more people can step forward to donate their blood plasma so that more Covid-19 patients can be cured.
Reza also thanks to Ministry of Health, the doctors and nurses who have worked tirelessly to combat the pandemic Covid-19.
