Farmers at Cameron Highlands were forced to dump their fresh produce due to difficulties in delivering the produce to other states. This is because their logistical operations have been affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO), that restricted them from delivering their produce to vendors.
Responding to the sad news, Lazada team reached out and offered to help the farmers in selling their produce online.
From 31 March, you can purchase fresh produce from Cameron Highlands through Lazada
Lazada created a special sales and delivery service to help the farmer to sell their vegetables online starting 31 March 2020. This is to help those farmers affected from dumping their produce due to logistical problem.
“We have figured out the technology and logistics in getting the produce onto our online-selling platform in lightning speed”.
A bundle of fresh produce from Cameron Highlands as low as RM 30
Lazada team created the special “Cameron Farmers” section. The produce includes cabbage, tomatoes, chili red and greens and potato leaves which will be sold for as little as RM 30 a bundle.
It is also mentioned that orders made before 12 PM will be delivered to the customer between 3 PM to 8 PM the following day. It’s a brilliant effort from Lazada as you don’t have to queue up at the supermarket anymore.
Some fishermen use Lazada as a platform to sell seafood as well
Aside from Cameron Farmers section, Lazada also help others that were forced to dump due to transport issues – some fishermen use Lazada as a platform to sell seafood as well. Fishermen who supplied restaurants had been facing problems selling their stock as most restaurants are closed during the MCO period.
