Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) announced that it will close one of its outlets in the Pavilion shopping mall officially on February 17, 2020. However, the showings will continue as usual until the official date announced.
Goodbye GSC Pavilion KL!
After a good 12-year run in Pavilion shopping mall since its launch on Nov 28, 2007, the cinema operator decided to close it down.
GSC is a wholly-owned unit of PPB Leisure Holdings Sdn Bhd. Moviegoers nearby the city area can still watch their favourite movies at its nearby cinemas in – GSC Berjaya Times Square, GSC Quill City Mall and GSC MyTown in Cheras.
The cinema will be replaced by China-based cinema chain, Dadi Theater Circuit
According to the Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust asset manager (retail), Datuk Joyce Yap, the space left after GSC closed down its cinema will be replaced by China-based cinema chain, Dadi Theater Circuit.
The China-based cinema chain, Dadi Theater Circuit is said to be China’s second-largest cinema chain in 2019 and is looking to expand its presence across Asia. Dadi Cinema has confimed as an anchor tenant for Pavilion Bukit Jalil. They may begin operations in May 2021, according to the source.
The statement from Pavilion KL reads:
Dadi Cinema will bring a fully immersive and premium cinematic experience to our moviegoers. This is in line with Pavilion KL’s effort to continuously bring innovative retail and entertainment brands to the Malaysian market. Thank you.”
It is sad to say that GSC at Pavilion KL will be closing down. After been operating for over 12 years, now it’s time to say goodbye. However, you can still watch your favourite movies before the cinema closing down on Feb 16 to recreate the good old memories with your friends, family or partner.
