Twitter has gained a lot of users since the app was born 10 years ago. The popular social media serves approximately 320 million monthly active users globally, and that, most likely including you.
It’s popular, for sure. But, Twitter does more harm than good. A lot of people deactivate their accounts, including AirAsia Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
Tony Fernandes said the social media has become an angry place
He said that social media has become an angry place and we certainly agree on it. According to his previous tweet, Tony Fernandes decided it’s the right time to delete his Twitter account and not interfering with such negativity and toxicity.
“Feel much better now not on social media”
It appears that Tony Fernandes loves Twitter and he has over 1.2 million followers since he opened an account in 2008 and had tweeted more than 21,400 times. But, too much negativity, anger and falsehood made the social media becomes toxic.
“Having closed Facebook time is coming to shut down Twitter. Bene such a fan but to much negativity and falsehood and anger. It’s been an amazing ride. Feel much better now not on Facebook and am sure will be even better without Twitter. Social media has become an angry place.“

He has already deactivated his Facebook account
Prior to this event, Tony Fernandes deactivated his Facebook account following the live-streaming terror attack on two mosques in New Zealand, March last year. According to him, netizens poured so much hate and anger on the social media platform and sometimes outweighs the good.
