Kelantan has its own uniqueness and also a lot of interesting places that are worth visiting. From walking around historical sites to exploring nature and isolated islands, there’s plenty of places to visit in Kelantan. The new addition that you should add in your itinerary is a rainbow village.
Rainbow village, Kampung Sungai Budor

Kampung Sungai Budor used to be a typical seaside village. It all changed after the villagers started to paint their houses in a rainbow theme. Eventually, it has made the village one of the most popular attractions in the state. Currently, only 6 houses have painted their houses in rainbow colour due to financial constraints and others are still undergoing the process. The plan is to paint a total of 150 houses.
The idea was to turn the village into a tourist attraction

The idea to revamp the village was executed by the Kelantanese Women’s Association with the cooperation of the Municipal Council of Kota Bharu-Islamic City (MPKB-BRI) and the National University of Malaysia (UKM).
The transformation started with changing the time-worn wooden walls and zinc in March 2018 and the whole process ended in June with colourful paint job in the same year.
The whole transformation attracts tourist nationally and internationally to take pictures of the photogenic village and share it on their social media.
Tourists from Philippines, Japan and China visit to take pictures of the photogenic village

Even with just only 6 houses painted in rainbow theme, the seaside village still became one of the main tourist attractions and they would be happy to take pictures of the colourful-worthy village. Due to the overwhelming response, some villagers took their own initiative and painted their houses on their own.
