This is an inspiring story of a Young Entrepreneur Icon, Mohamad Azlan Al Amin, 32, founder of Azlan Al Amin Properties Sdn Bhd who was once used to work as a rubbish collector to earn money for a living.
Azlan collected the leftover food thrown out by the canteen operators to eat
Back in 2005, Azlan worked as a rubbish collector for a cleaning contractor at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Gong Kedak, Kelantan. Penniless, he would collect the leftover of chicken and fish thrown by the canteen operators and brought it back home to feed his family.
He was the poorest guy in Kampung Tok Raja, Besut
His life was very difficult and according to a survey, his family was found to be the poorest in Kampung Tok Raja, Besut. He knew he had to do something when he saw his mother cried as she washed his shirt because she saw worms dropping out of his pocket.
With only RM1.30 in his pocket, he decided to leave Besut
Later in 2010, he decided to leave Besut to find a job in Jertih. Thankfully, he met Halim Md Saman and Ramli Hassan who changed his life. They both are property agents and they welcomed him to work with them as a property agent.
For the first few months, he managed to earn RM4,000
As a first-timer property agent, Azlan managed to sell two lots and earn a commission of RM4,000. Moreover, in just 6 months, he earned another RM500,000. He then bought the first property for almost RM300,000. Eventually, he set up his own company – Azlan Al Amin Properties Sdn Bhd. He’s now managed real estate around Terengganu and Kelantan that worth hundreds of millions ringgit.
He shared his story in his newly launched book
A millionaire who was then a rubbish collector is willing to share his success story by publishing a book titled, Secrets of A Rubbish Collector Who Becomes A Millionaire (Rahsia Pengutip Sampah Jadi Jutawan).
As the sixth child from a family of 21 siblings, Azlan shared the key to success are not only hard work and determination but also by giving back to others, practising his religion and taking care of his elderly parents. He is now actively in contributing to society and those who in need.
