National Entrepreneurship Week (NEW), organised by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development (MED is one of the MED’s initiatives to create a comprehensive platform for local entrepreneurs. This entrepreneurship programme is a continuous effort by the government in conjunction with the newly launched National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 (NEP 2030) by the Prime Minister on 11 July 2019 towards establishing an Entrepreneurial Nation by 2030.
Pushing entrepreneurship opportunities
The main focus of organising NEW 2019 is to promote the National One Village, One Product programme or in Bahasa, Satu Daerah, Satu Industri (SDSI). Under this programme, MED will focus on SDSI entrepreneurs across the country covering five major clusters – food and beverages, innovation, homestay, handicraft and health and personal care.
In addition, the organisation of the Women Entrepreneur Convention in conjunction with NEW 2019 directly recognised the role of women in entrepreneurship development throughout the activities and programmes conducted.
Over 130 entrepreneurial activities across the country
Activities conducted throughout the National Entrepreneurship Week 2019 including exhibitions and sales, business matchmaking, interactive pocket talk sessions, business seminars, consulting services and business advice to entrepreneurs. Some of the programmes are INSKEN Outreach, Fair Price Sales, Pocket Talk series by agencies serving under MED such as SME Bank and IKM, showcase based on the 6 core elements of National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030, Malaysia Kitchen and also Rakyat Run.
Who should attend National Entrepreneurship Week 2019?
This programme focuses on several specialised groups from all walks of life. NEW 2019 aims to attract participation from local entrepreneurs and vendors, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), ministries, government agencies, state governments, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), financial institutions, public and private higher education institutions, youth and B40 group.
