Agricultural drones are changing the traditional way of farming practices. Drones are revolutionising agriculture and it’s the new future. This unmanned aerial vehicle helps increase crop production and monitor crop growth. Its capabilities can give farmers a greater picture of their fields by letting them see their fields from the sky.
Felcra Berhad is taking an impressive decision by signing a memorandum of understanding with drone and robotics specialist MATA Aerotech to collaborate on integrating drone tech into agriculture.
M’sians to become ‘farm-preneurs’ using drone tech

This deal between the state-owned Felcra and drone specialist company will help the government to improve the agriculture industry. With this bold move, it can get more farmers from rural and seclude areas to become farm-preneurs by incorporating technological advancements thus making Malaysia ready to embark Industry 4.0.

It is definitely will change the country’s agriculture landscape. We have to be ready and move forward parallel with the technology so that we won’t be left behind.
The positive impacts of drone technology

According to MATA Aerotech CEO, Wan Azrain Adnan, the use of drone technology will give a positive impact on agriculture. It can increase yields by 10 per cent, reduce dependency on pesticide by 25 per cent and also cut labour cost by 30 per cent. Overall, the data analysis provided by drone technology will be very useful in improving plantation management.
Besides, it will improve crop performance by in term of mapping plantations. Drone technology can assess crop health and quality too. Drone technology can save farmers from pesticides exposure as the drones can do the spraying – both fertilisers and pesticides accurately. Resulting in cost savings, more effective management of resources and reducing waste and leakages.
Building a sustainable model for smart agriculture
