Malaysia will be the first country to use Electric vehicle taxi with its driving directions on the right. This is because local taxi company, Big Blue Taxi Facilities is expected to use the first batch of its 100 electric-powered taxis beginning this July or August.

According to the local news source, company founder Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail said the electric vehicles were supposed to be launched in May, but the project had to be extended to comply with several processes prior to approval by the relevant authority.
They are also in the process of signing the contract with local companies on the installation process of the electric powered-cabs. If it is successful, Big Blue Taxi is expecting their first production of 5,000 units.
The EV could be a compact MPV, e6 manufactured by BYD
It is said that the electric vehicles in question could be the BYD e6 which is currently in use in Singapore as taxis. Electric vehicles will be cheaper to maintain and operate, as well as environmentally friendly compared to using oil. As oil at this time is getting higher, it makes it difficult for taxi drivers. This initiative can help taxi drivers increase maximum revenue.
