Just recently AirAsia announced that passengers can now register for boarding via facial recognition. This new technology is being introduced at Senai International Aiport, Johor and is definitely will be implemented in other airports too.
The facial recognition boarding method is a much easier way and can be done through AirAsia mobile app.
The huge announcement was made by AirAsia group chief executive officer, Tony Fernandes via his Twitter account on 25th April.
The first of its kind in Malaysia
The Fast Airport Clearance Experience System (F.A.C.E.S) is the first in Malaysia and fully owned and operated by AirAsia. The new boarding system technology aims to create a seamless travel process for passengers.
The latest technology allows passengers to register for boarding with F.A.C.E.S using the AirAsia mobile app. Thus, saving time spent at the airport.
No more carrying or showing your passport to board a flight
Using the system, the airline could identify Faces-enrolled passengers who could go past the automated boarding gate and board their flights without having to carry or show any travel documents.
How it works?
First, as a passenger, you need to log in to your AirAsia account on the app and open your profile page. Tap on ‘My FACES’ feature and record a video of your face facing forward at the camera – just like you are about to take a passport photo.
Then, scan your passport and wait for the app to verify your details. Once it’s done, you’re all good to go! On another note, ground staff will require you to do a one-time verification process before passengers can start using F.A.C.E.S to board flights.
