As Malaysians, we should be proud and do not look down upon local products. It is time we appreciate our homegrown brands and support them.
Malaysian products are getting famous not just locally but internationally. Some have even entered the Europe market and making billion ringgit! You will be surprised to know that all these local food brands that you consume every day are famous overseas.
1. Life sauces

Did you know that Life chili sauce is the largest sauce brand in Malaysia? And do you know that they export the products to US, UK, France, Australia, new Zealand, Japan, Hong King, Maldives, Mauritius, Brunei, Singapore and the Middle East? This local product is exported worldwide!
Life Tomato Ketchup and Chilli sauce are so popular they are served exclusively at manor international restaurant chains like KFC, Pizza Hut and many other popular fast-food operators, in bottles and sachets. The humble factory in Port Klang produces 26 million sauce bottles a year.
2. The world’s first frozen paratha

Kawan Food is widely known as the creator of the world’s first frozen paratha. Based in Shah Alam, Selangor, Kawan Food is Malaysia’s leading exporter and largest manufacturer for frozen delicacies.
They have been operating for more than 30 years and produce flatbreads like naan and paratha, pastries, finger food, to pita and tortilla bread that are available in different flavours. Their products are exported to US, Canada, European, Irish, UK, Middle Eastern, African, Asian and Australia markets. They made a net profit of RM9.17 million in the second quarter of 2016.
3. Malaysia’s leading homegrown biscuit brand, Munchy’s

Who doesn’t love to munch munchy’s? They keep on introducing yummy products from biscuits to oat biscuits and even croissant. Our very own leading homegrown biscuit brand, munchy’s exports their products across more than 50 countries. Their headquarters is located in Batu Pahat with several local offices are spread out across the country.
4. Baba’s spices

A prime example of humble beginnings, BABA’s spices have broken into the foreign market for years. Their products can be found in Canada, Europe, Australia, North America, South Africa and most of Southeast Asia.
BABA’s started in the late ’70s selling spices that cater primarily to local housewives. Now, BABA’s is not just known in Malaysia but worldwide and you should be proud because it’s a homegrown brand!
5. PappaRich restaurants

PappaRich brand today is synonymous with bringing the Malaysian experience all over the world through the enjoyment of its carefully-crafted food and homely ambience.
