The First Halal Food Delivery in Malaysia: Bungkus by honestbee

How often do you use food delivery services? In Malaysia, there are many food delivery services options you can choose from, but, there is none that offers Halal food only for Muslim customers. A local food delivery service – honestbee took the initiative by launching Bungkus by honestbee that offers halal food delivery.

1. Officially launched during World Halal Conference

Bungkus by honestbee has been recognised as the first food delivery service provider to get the halal certificate from JAKIM. It was officially launched by Vice President of Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), Hanisofian Alias during the 11th World Halal Conference (WHC) at Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Center (MITEC) during the closing remarks on the event.

2. The demand from customers and partner restaurants for halal food delivery service

According to Afzan Lutfi, Malaysia’s Country Manager of honestbee, he said that there is a segment of the customers and partner restaurants voice out the importance of Halal food delivery. So, honestbee engaged JAKIM to make it happens.

There is no other food delivery provider that has the option of delivering halal service. For honestbee, getting the certification is just not only an Islamic religious requirement but on the other hand, it is especially for the halal food manufacturers who must remain strict for cleanliness and quality control.

3. Not just halal but clean too

As previously there were no halal food delivery services provided, it limited the options available for Muslim consumers in ordering food. The risk of contamination is always there when the rider picks up from a non-certified halal restaurant and deliver food to the customer using the same delivery bag.

There is no proper guidelines on how to monitor the food delivery service overall. Hence, it has been the biggest issue in our halal food industry.

It is easier for us to get halal food from halal certified restaurants but to provide a halal service for online food delivery, it is not available in our market.

Due to this reason, Bungkus by honestbee took the initiative to partner with JAKIM and HDC to implement this halal service provider for food delivery category so that Malaysians especially Muslim have the confidence when ordering food in the online platform.

4. You can now eat without any doubt

Muslim customers now have the option when ordering food online without thinking if the food has meet with certain quality halal standard as the tagline for Bungkus by honestbee goes “Makan Puas-Puas Tanpa Was-Was” that mean (Eat Without Any Doubt).
